Andy Halliday stunned at Celtic hero return claim, alongside Jota and Kieran Tierney comebacks

One thing you can’t fault Celtic with is the genius recruitment.

The return of Jota during the January transfer window and the soon-to-be-returning Kieran Tierney from Arsenal are proof of that.

During the summer of 2023, Jota headed for the Celtic exit door and secured a transfer to the Saudi Pro League, before donning the green and white colours again 18 months later for less than half the fee.

You could argue that Celtic’s deal for Tierney is even better because he, too, left for big money in 2019 when he joined Arsenal.

Yet, the 27-year-old will return to his boyhood club in the summer for nothing, and it further proves the brilliant recruitment inside Celtic Park.

But could the champions-elect possibly pull off another deal of this kind in the summer, and bring back a returning hero?

Andy Halliday in disbelief at Kyogo Furuhashi return to Celtic suggestion

You wouldn’t put it past Celtic, but with Kyogo Furuhashi struggling at Rennes, and Brendan Rodgers looking for more firepower, could the Japan star return to Glasgow in the summer?

Amid talk of Celtic needing another striker, former Hoops youth player Paul Slane backed the idea of Kyogo coming back, as he told Open Goal.

But Andy Halliday stated that ‘something isn’t right’ if the Treble-chasers are selling players in such a fashion, then bringing them back for next to nothing, as he clearly doesn’t want to see it happening.

“I would have a wee sniff at bringing Kyogo back,” said Slane. “The same as the Tierney and Jota. You will get him for less than you sold him, so it’s a great bit of business.”

In the background, Si Ferry added: “Great shout. That would be genius if they did that again.”

Andy Halliday was in disbelief and joked: “I am not having it. Something isn’t right here. You just can’t keep bringing players back. It’s not right.”

Kyogo’s Celtic career in numbers

They say never go back, but Rodgers returned and he is dominating once again, whilst Jota has looked pretty good since his comeback.

And every Celtic fan is looking forward to seeing Tierney at Parkhead again, so perhaps Kyogo returning wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Plus, the all-action forward was heading towards raising the bat and netting 100 goals, before he left, so he does have that milestone to reach.
