Johnny Kenny could yet leave Celtic this summer.
The new Premiership campaign starts on Sunday for Celtic, with a home tie against St Mirren, but will Kenny still be at the club by the time the 2025 summer transfer window slams shut on September 1?
Bolton are keen on Kenny’s talents, as these rumours have been swirling around for a while, but it took a few turns over the weekend.
On the one hand, the League One side are very keen on the player, but Celtic’s ‘£1 million’ price tag over his head is putting off the English side, according to Alan Nixon.

Bolton fans react to fresh Johnny Kenny and Celtic rumours
Bolton are keen to earn promotion to England’s second-tier, and just like Celtic, as the champions of Scotland, they are crying out for goals.
Whilst Kenny might not be the answer for the Hoops, the Bolton fans think he is the final piece of the jigsaw for them.
The Bolton supporters made their feelings clear on social media, as they don’t want their club to waste any time, and instead, pay the £1 million that has been reported.
This Bolton fan @dasbolton42279 wants Celtic to lower their demands: ‘Celtic. Lower your price. Know it makes sense.’
@barrett_1976 wants Kenny signed: ‘Get the deal done.’
@GreenManForest can see a deal getting done: ‘If both sides want to make a deal, I imagine we’ll meet in the middle. This is just a normal negotiation.’
@harveybwfc thinks Kenny is the ‘missing piece’ to Bolton’s puzzle: ‘Missing piece to the puzzle, need to just pay the money before it’s too late.’
@RushtonMalc reminded everyone of a one Andy Walker: ‘Last striker we bought from Celtic was Andy Walker if I recall…he didn’t do too badly.’
Another happy Bolton fan if Kenny signs, as @LPott1992 adds: ‘If we get him and no one else, I’ll take that #bwfc.’
@BWFCSUCHY thinks Kenny has ‘mad potential’: ‘If we miss out because we are afraid to pay the £1M, that’s crazy. He’s young with mad potential and already showing quality.’
And the theme continues, as @DanielMRobertsx stated: ‘This would be some signing if we pull it off.’
Another Bolton fan urging his club to pay the money for Kenny: ‘Pay the money. There cannot be any holding back after last season.’
Kenny is in demand, as @bwfcmax2 added: ‘Just pay it before someone swoops in #bwfc.’
@Bwfc433 is desperate for Kenny to sign: ‘Understand we live within financial means and have our own valuation, but we’re no stranger to a £1m fee anymore and this is, for me, the final piece of the puzzle. Really really want this done #bwfc.’
Where does Kenny rank amongst Celtic strikers?
Kenny isn’t Celtic’s first and second choice striker, with Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah ahead of him, then you have the new boys on the block.
Shin Yamada looked lively against Al-Ahli, whilst Callum Osmand, who signed from Fulham, has been brought in as a project-like signing.
You presume that those two are ahead of Kenny, definitely Yamada, so despite the Irishman’s two goals in pre-season, it probably signals one thing, and that’s a summer exit.
