Celtic are reportedly looking to bring young Man City defender Jay-Simpson Pusey to Parkhead this summer.

The move could be considered strange after Brendan Rodgers admitted he wanted to strengthen the Celtic front line this summer.

Mark Hendry of Celts Are Here has reported that Celtic are looking to make an approach about a loan move for the Man City youngster.

With Cameron Carter-Vickers and Auston Trusty being backed up by Liam Scales and Dane Murray in the Celtic backline, adding another inexperienced defender from another club seems like a bit of a weird move.

However, looking at how the Man City fans have reacted to the news, it appears that Celtic could be adding a quality youngster to their side should the move go through.

Man City fans are gutted and tell Jahmai Simpson-Pusey Celtic are ‘perfect’ for him

Despite featuring just six times for Man City last season, the fans clearly believe he is a talented youngster and that Celtic will get a very good player.

@Cayhlebs is keen on Simpson-Pusey moving to Paradise and said, “He should join Celtic, at least he gets to play in the Champions League.”

And that view is backed up by @fatherubenNo3 who said, “Celtic will be a great move for him.”

And @JMC_OfficiaI believes a move to the Scottish champions would be a great move and said, “Send him to Celtic, can get great first team and Champions League experience while also getting that trophy winning mentality!”

What has Man City’s Jahmai Simpson-Pusey done to warrant Celtic interest

At 19, Celtic will clearly be signing Simpson-Pusey as a backup defender as Man City hope to get him developed at Parkhead.

But what has the youngster done to be considered for such a high-profile and pressured move?

Here is Simpson-Pusey’s appearances under Pep Guardiola:

The young defender has been capped three times for England U18s but hasn’t featured for the national side since March 2023.
