Brendan Rodgers is starting to shuffle his defence ahead of the new Premiership season.

Everyone is aware of the change at left-back, with Kieran Tierney returning home, but there is one in and one out at the heart of Celtic’s defence.

On Saturday, Celtic confirmed that Maik Nawrocki has joined Hannover 96 on loan until the end of the season, after failing to earn regular minutes under Rodgers during his two seasons in Glasgow.

This comes after Celtic signed Hayato Inamura from Albirex Niigata in Japan, as it pushed the Polish star further down the centre-back pecking order at the champions of Scotland.

Maik Nawrocki’s message to Celtic fans after joining Hannover 96

You have to credit Nawrocki because he has remained classy throughout this, and he hasn’t allowed his lack of minutes to affect him.

Many would have seen the 24-year-old all smiles, as he was being introduced to the Hannover 96 supporters – the German club are in the second tier.

Then, Nawrocki took to his Instagram story and posted this brilliant message to the fans.

‘All the best for next season, Celts 🍀💚’

Is Nawrocki’s Celtic career over?

In terms of age, Nawrocki has just turned 24, so he has plenty of years left in him, not just to hit his peak, but also to learn.

So, in that sense, you would probably think the Celtic door remains open for him, and then you add in the fact that Rodgers’ contract expires after he returns from his loan spell.

If there is a new manager in the Celtic Park dugout, then it might increase his chances of making it in Glasgow, but Hannover 96 have an ‘option to buy’ Nawrocki, so if he does well, then it probably is the end of the road.
