Kieran Tierney is coming home.

The Celtic hero will make the return to Parkhead after six years with the Arsenal defender agreeing a deal earlier this week to move back to Scotland.

It is a move fans can get excited about having sat through a bit of a January saga for the 27-year-old who was told previously by the Gunners that they would not be renewing his contract at the end of the campaign.

That sparked Celts into action to bring back their former player on a pre-contract and it was essentially a case of when, not if, the move would be greenlit by all parties.

Manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed Tierney would return in his presser yesterday evening as he previewed tonight’s Champions League clash against Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.

And it was, again, all about timing as Celtic now must wait for Arsenal to make their decision about allowing KT to leave this month or wait until the summer with an Oleksandr Zinchenko move in the offing which could delay Tierney’s switch.

Now Arsenal supporters have had their say with the left-back’s exit splitting their opinion.

For instance, some fans have urged their club to refuse letting the Scotland cap leave this window.

One said: “Not overly sure we can let him go in Jan with the injuries we have. Maybe that’s just sentiment, but has come on recently and done a job where needed.”

Another added: “Do not let him go early,” as one wrote: “I wish he proves himself to Arteta before then. I hope he stays”.

A fourth commented: “Tbh im cool with him staying until the summer”.

Others were just sad to see him go.

One wrote: “A real shame to lose KT, loved the guy when he first joined & he’s stayed a consummate professional ever since. Once a Gunner…”

Another added: “This breaks my heart,” as one added: “This is so gutting man I wanted him to be our captain. Not a bad word to say about him was class for us. Big up KT each and every time”.

One commented: “Best of luck KT my LB. Hope u smash it again at Celtic”.
