Martin O’Neill ‘very interested’ in Celtic deal for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
O’Neill is clearly very excited about the prospect of signing the former Liverpool player as he confirmed he has spoken to Oxlade-Chamberlain about coming to Celtic.
O’Neill told Superscoreboard, “Yes, I do. I genuinely do. Yes, he has trained at Arsenal for some time since his time in Turkey.
“I spoke to him. I mean, I’m sure there are lots of options, maybe closer to London as well, too. Yes, he was very affable.
“I would be very interested in doing it, as I said to you, one I’m surprised that people haven’t taken him up closer to the area and he was telling me he was training with Arsenal for some considerable time.
“And so in terms of fitness, it’s not match fitness, we’ll see. He’s got loads of options.”
Joe Hart speaks to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain about Celtic, ex-Liverpool man ‘very, very excited’
And to help the cause, Joe Hart has already spoken to his former England teammate about a possible move to Paradise.
O’Neill continued, “I think he was very, very excited about what we were saying.
“Listen, he knows about the football club. He’s big friends with Joe Hart, and Joe has spoken to him, not on our behalf, that was a conversation he had with Joe.
“But listen, it’s fine. It’s something that’ll be addressed, and if it doesn’t materialise it doesn’t materialise.”
