What will be the legacy of this dreadful transfer window for Celtic?

The Celtic board are lucky that they have a man of Brendan Rodgers’ quality at their disposal because, amid the outside noise, he is securing trophy after trophy for the club.

The 2025 summer transfer window is probably the worst in the club’s recent history, and everything seemed to go from bad to worse on transfer deadline day.

As the powers that be at Celtic Park left it late to try and conclude deals, especially for strikers, those in charge got hit in the face and rejected several times.

Michael Stewart hinted that this could now lead to a change right at the very top.

Will the Celtic board now change their tune after missing out on Kasper Dolberg?

Kasper Dolberg turned down Celtic and instead rubbed salt into the wounds of those in Glasgow and signed for Ajax.

Speaking on Premier Sports, Stewart thinks this rejection and transfer failure could now result in the board changing their ways in the market.

Stewart on Dolberg rejection: “Oooh, I am not being funny. This really could be a turning point for Celtic, in regards to the way that they do business.”

‘Perhaps a transfer window that leads to the Celtic board realising their model has to change?’ wrote Stewart on social media.

Could more signings yet arrive at Celtic?

There are several free transfers lurking about, after all, Celtic have signed Kelechi Iheanacho as a free agent, so don’t bet against another player of that ilk arriving.

Some big names are on the market, and you wonder if any of them could help this confidence-drained and goal-shy team towards some light.

Here is a selection of free transfers on the market:
