Brendan Rodgers has already been hard at work adding fresh faces to the Celtic squad this summer. However, the Hoops boss is tipped to add more players before the window closes.
But as always with Celtic, we tend to be linked with new players almost weekly and one of the players that was mentioned as being a possible target for Brendan Rodgers has come out and addressed the speculation linking him with a move to Glasgow.
Egyptian international, Mohamed Reda, was reportedly a target for Celtic just over ten days ago with the club said to have made contact with his club, Future FC. The 22-year-old has addressed the rumour and claimed that Celtic were looking at two options to bring him to Glasgow.
As reported by the Daily Record, Reda said, “There was a lot of interest in me over the summer. Al Ahly talked to me a few times, but they couldn’t reach an agreement with my club Future FC. I don’t think Zamalek were ever really serious about a potential transfer with me, to be honest.
“But Scottish club Celtic were very interested in me either in a loan or a transfer. Nothing has happened so far though so I will just concentrate on playing football for Future FC.”

Reda is certainly a player that would appeal to Brendan Rodgers. The Egyptian international is extremely versatile and has played in the more advanced role of attacking midfield as well as being used as an option up front and on both wings. [Transfermarkt]
His main role, however, is in the central area of midfield and it’s an area of the pitch where we have more than enough cover.
Celtic’s purchase of Odin Thiago Holm and Hyeukkyu Kwon has added two players to a position that already has the likes of Callum McGregor, Tomoki Iwata, Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley vying for places.
With Brendan Rodgers also adding wingers Hyunjun Yang and Marco Tillio to the Celtic squad, spaces are now limited to where Reda would fit into the team. Especially with Liel Abada committing to stay at the club and Sead Haksabanovic and Daizen Maeda waiting in the wings.
I personally think this is one we can put in the ‘not going to happen’ bracket. Unless there is a material shift and we lose any of our key first-team players before the end of the summer, another central midfielder is likely way down in Brendan Rodgers’ list of priorities.
