Neil Lennon thinks Aberdeen’s Bojan Miovski and Hearts’ Lawrence Shankland both have the ability to play for Celtic.
Less than a week remains before the January transfer window slams shut, with Nicolas Kuhn being the only arrival for Celtic and Brendan Rodgers.
John Hartson was pretty honest in his thoughts on what he thinks of the January transfer window so far, with a lot of talk about whether the club will bring in another striker.
Given the number of goals they are scoring – Bojan Miovski and Lawrence Shankland – are two performers who have constantly been spoken about.
Neil Lennon hailed the duo’s skill set and added that it’s the Aberdeen hitman who ‘suits Celtic’s style more’ because of his movement around the pitch, as he told PLZ Soccer.
But he did also highlight how Lawrence Shankland has ‘blossomed’ in recent times and how he is also an ‘exceptional finisher’.
Whether it’s this month, or in the summer, both Aberdeen and Hearts will do very well to keep hold of their star strikers because they are now probably punching above their stations.
Celtic’s striker search
“I think two of them are very good,” said Lennon about Miovski and Shankland.
He is then asked if he would take them at Celtic: “I would, yes. I think both could play for both clubs (Celtic and Rangers). The quality of Lawrence Shankland’s finishing. People talk about him not being so mobile, but I watched him live in the derby and I thought he was very good. His hold-up play was good and his finish was top draw. And he has continued that.
“I watched Miovski in the semi-final against Hibs. I thought he was outstanding. He is more mobile and is willing to do more running. But both of them are two very capable strikers at this level. You could flip a coin (as to who to pick) – Lawrence has really blossomed this season. He is really an exceptional finisher.
“Miovski may suit Celtic’s style of play more because he does maybe move around the pitch more than Lawrence. You can’t question Lawrence’s finishing. I like Miovski. I am a big fan of him. I wouldn’t be a surprised if he was part of a number of clubs, not just in Scotland, but in England as well.”

Bojan Miovski and Lawrence Shankland’s numbers
Hearts are sitting third in the Scottish Premiership table and you would imagine they wouldn’t be anywhere near their current position if it wasn’t for Shankland.
The 28-year-old has 13 goals from 22 league matches this term, including three in Europe, with two from seven on the international stage also.
On the other hand, Miovski is four years younger. Playing for a struggling Aberdeen side with nine from 18 league matches and four goals in Europe.
Celtic fans would rightfully say that the two aren’t a patch on Kyogo Furuhashi, so they aren’t worth pushing for.
But others will feel that they would provide that much-needed quality behind the Japan star, which some are calling for.
