Paul Slane on what a ‘right good source’ told him about Celtic and Kieron Bowie

Celtic are being linked with every striker under the sun, including Hibernian hitman, Kieron Bowie.

Unfortunately, this is how it’s going to be from now until the end of the January transfer window because of the mess Celtic have put themselves in since the summer.

Not only that, at the start of the month, you had Wilfried Nancy planning Celtic’s future, but then he was inevitably sacked and booted out, alongside Head of Football Operations, Paul Tisdale.

Now, Martin O’Neill is picking up Celtic again, as Paul Slane thinks that the champions of Scotland shouldn’t look to sign Bowie from Easter Road, even though a striker is needed at Parkhead.

Kieron Bowie to Celtic… yes or no?

Celtic warned against signing Kieron Bowie from Hibernian

These Bowie links to Celtic stem from the summer, and it seems as though the club panicked when trying to bring in a striker for then-manager, Brendan Rodgers.

Speaking on Open Goal, Slane explained that he has been told ‘from a right good source’ that the Hoops put in a very late bid for Bowie in the summer.

It seems as though it came on ‘the last day of the window’, but those in Edinburgh just ‘laughed it off.’

“Seems like Shaun Maloney, he is going to be involved in the recruitment, doesn’t it?” said Slane.

“It would only be Bowie for a centre-forward position that you would be looking at. I don’t think he has done enough for the price Hibs want him to pay.

“I heard that from a right good source that happened in the summer. They put in a cheeky wee bid for Bowie, and Hibs laughed it off. Last day of the window, aye.”

Celtic can’t panic…

This might not go down well with supporters, but Celtic can’t now just panic and put in a stupid bid for Bowie because other deals aren’t coming off.

The reason why they are in this situation is because of the 2025 summer transfer window, and now those in charge have to find the best possible solution.

Bowie doesn’t have the goalscoring record that would lift you off your seat, only eight goals from 21 Premiership matches, but at the age of 23, there is a talent and a player to work with.
