The ride can be pretty difficult at Celtic if you are constantly getting verbal pelters.
Whether you agree or disagree, think it was right or wrong, that’s the boat Adam Idah was in during his time at Celtic.
Regardless of what Celtic supporters thought of the 2025 summer transfer window, one of the biggest deals concluded was selling Idah to Swansea City.
Despite the Republic of Ireland star being signed under Brendan Rodgers, he was out of the door as quickly as he entered it, and it still bugs Peter Grant to this day.

Peter Grant refuses to change his stance on Adam Idah after Celtic exit
There could be an argument that many Celtic supporters backed the club for selling Idah, and also managing to get £6 million for his talents.
Speaking on Go Radio, Grant made it clear that he would ‘never’ have sold him, and he added, ‘I still say that to this day.’
Even though Idah was sold, the powers that be have still received stick from the fans, and one of the reasons is how they have dealt with the striker department in 2025.
“The letter (Celtic statement) should never have been drafted and put out,” said Grant.
“See if they wanted to say that, someone should have been sitting there and speaking it. Talking about it. Explaining it. In front of people, so people could ask questions.
“Then the supporters could understand. They could ask the questions back. Maybe not agreed. This is why we did this. I said to you, it’s not easy to buy players, so I can understand that. Sometimes, you go in there, and it’s so much money.
“You know what I liked about Idah. I would never have sold him, I still say that to this day. I think he started the season poorly. But I still wouldn’t have sold him.”
Idah’s Celtic career in numbers
This spawned over two spells, starting with the loan deal from Norwich City, before that Scottish Cup final winner against Rangers pushed it towards a permanent transfer.
During Idah’s time under Rodgers, he wasn’t a regular starter, nor did he play 90 minutes as frequently as he would have wanted.
That’s why some were protective of the player, but this is how his numbers read out at Celtic:
- Games: 76
- Starts: 35
- Off the bench: 41
- 90 minutes completed: 4
- Total minutes: 3,420
- Goals: 29
- Assists: 3
