Romelu Lukaku’s Napoli return makes Celtic summer target ‘destined’ for Azzurri exit

Celtic’s need to strengthen in January may well have been given a shot in the arm after a summer transfer target looks like he could become available.

A striker must be top of Wilfried Nancy’s list as the Celtic manager struggles to find goals in his team and it seems like an attacker from Napoli could be available for loan.

The return of Belgian international Romelu Lukaku from injury appears to have pushed Giuseppe Ambrosino way down the pecking order and with Celtic badly needing a striker, could Nancy be tempted to dip his toe in?

It appears that a deal could be possible as a report from Italy says that the young Italian striker could be set for a January loan move.

Celtic summer target Giuseppe Ambrosino to leave Napoli ‘temporarily’

Ambrosino has managed just 90 minutes of football spread over three games at Napoli this season and now, it seems, Romelu Lukaku’s return from injury has made the 22-year-old surplus to requirements.

A report from Area Napoli states, “Giuseppe Ambrosino also seems destined to temporarily leave Napoli.

“With Romelu’s return, Lukaku would remain in Campania as the fourth choice, if not fifth (besides the Belgian, Hojlund and Lucca are ahead of him, and probably also Neres, who can be deployed as a false nine). It’s better to learn the ropes elsewhere.”

Is Giuseppe Ambrosino’s career goal scoring record what Celtic are missing?

At just 22, Ambrosino has made just eight senior appearances in the Italian top flight. With much of the striker’s appearances in the lower leagues, how does the young striker’s scoring record fare?

Celtic backed to spend £20 million in January… can you see it happening?

Averaging a goal every 3.79 games, Ambrosino definitely has an eye for the back of the net, but with no goals at senior level, could the young Italian lack of goals at the top level be a concern for the Celtic fans?
