These comebacks are proving to be really popular at Celtic.

It started with Brendan Rodgers making a return during the summer of 2023, and then Jota came back during the January transfer window after 18 months in Saudi Arabia and France.

Most recently, Celtic fans have celebrated Kieran Tierney returning home, as the club’s 2025 summer transfer window is now well and truly under way.

Despite Celtic winning two more trophies during the recently concluded campaign, there is no time to stand still because this dominance must continue.

One of the most talked about areas for months now has been the striker spot, and who the club will bring in for Rodgers.

Perhaps another comeback is on the cards…

Odsonne Edouard backed to secure Celtic return

Odsonne Edouard was a huge success at Celtic, but his footballing career hasn’t worked out as he would have liked in the Premier League.

The 27-year-old struggled at Crystal Palace, scoring 21 goals in 103 matches, before joining Leicester City on loan last season and only playing six times for the relegated outfit, without scoring.

But Scott Allan made it clear that he would welcome back Edouard, especially given that the club is searching for goals, as he told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard.

Roger Hannah asked: “Would you take Odsonne Edouard back?”

Allan responded: “I would, yeah. A fantastic player. I think it’s a position Celtic will be looking to add to Adam Idah.

“I think, Maeda, we might possibly see him going back out to that wide area, where we have seen him be so effective, in terms of pressing and getting up and down the pitch. With his goal tally, he will be looking to add to that next season.

“I think there’s no question that it’s an area of the park that Celtic need strengthening.”

The ‘problem’ with Edouard’s transfer and Kieran Tierney comparisons

Tierney is at the peak of his powers, but didn’t hesitate to put on the Celtic shirt again because of his connections with the club.

Allan feels Tierney’s return is ‘completely different’ to the Edouard situation, and Celtic might encounter a ‘problem’ with their former striker because of the money difference.

Hannah added: “It’s a fashionable thing to do. Leave Celtic, and then come back. Jota did it last season. Kieran Tierney has done it in the summer. Is it possible for Edouard? He will be on big English Premier League money.”

Allan then added: “I think the problem with the boys that are now playing in the Premier League, there is a chance to go to these Saudi leagues, where they can earn ridiculous amounts of money.

“The Kieran Tierney is a completely different one because he is a huge Celtic fan, and I think he has been dying to get back home. He probably feels he has unfinished business at Celtic.

“So, it will be interesting. I do think Celtic will be looking to find the next Odsonne Edouard, where they can get a tune out of him, and then make money from them.”
