Celtic expert predicts Benjamin Nygren to be a success

Benjamin Nygren is close to joining Celtic and can provide a great option for Brendan Rodgers to fill that striker position which was left with a handful of options available.

Alexander Isak is a fan of Nygren and it’s expected that a move could be finalising in the coming days or weeks.

Thankfully, it seems like the Sweden international is going to be a hit at Celtic Park, with an expert saying the Bhoys will be “getting a steal” with Nygren, who could sign for as little as £2m.

The FC Nordsjaelland striker has already confirmed he will leave the Danish Superliga outfit, saying: “I will leave. I’m not thinking about the league, but more about coming to a club that shares my ambitions and that believes in me extremely much.”

Johnny Kenny future could be in doubt ahead of Callum Osmand arrival

Callum Osmand also looks like he’ll be signing for Celtic and could follow in the footsteps of modern day Hoops hero Moussa Demeble by joining from Fulham and scoring plenty of goals.

Osmand is only 19 and will be seen as a long-term signing to bolster the squad and challenge for a first-team spot, however, Ross McCormack thinks Johnny Kenny’s future is in trouble.

McCormack said: “If you sign a striker, then, of course, Daizen Maeda would go left wing,” said McCormack. “If you can only get a left winger, and can’t get a striker that you want, then Daizen Maeda plays through the middle.

“What this does, for me, the young boy Osmand, who is coming from Fulham. It probably doesn’t look good if you are Johnny Kenny.

“You are a young boy, and they have gone out and signed another sort of young striker. You are wondering what path his career is going to take now.

“If you only play one up front, there is no point in carrying a squad with four out-and-out strikers, let us be honest.”

Celtic urged to make Jeffrey Schlupp deal permanent

Greg Taylor is wanted by Copenhagen and POAK ahead of his inevitable exit from the club, meaning that only one left-back will be available to Rodgers.

Kieran Tierney was confirmed by Celtic and the Hoops manager will want extra depth in the position.

McCormack believes Jeffrey Schlupp should join Celtic permanently, adding: “Celtic play 60 games a season. If Kieran Tierney comes in and he is only playing 35, that means they are going to sign another left-back who is going to get 25 games a season. For a backup player, 25 games a season is a very good return.

“In terms of the level they could go and sign, I would imagine it would be something along the lines of a Jeffrey Schlupp.”
