Celtic hero Kieran Tierney continues to warm the bench for Arsenal.
It must be frustrating for the player because he is fit and ready to play, but Mikel Arteta isn’t using him, just like he didn’t during Arsenal’s 2-2 draw against Aston Villa over the weekend.
Tierney has been an unused substitute on 12 occasions by Arsenal this term, as it becomes ever clearer that he will leave the London club, but it’s a case of when?
Celtic want to sign Tierney. They can get him on a free because his contract at the Emirates expires in the summer.
But, equally, the champions of Scotland can snap him up on a loan deal until the end of the campaign and then tie him up to a new contract in the summer.
And if that happens, what will happen to Celtic’s starting left-back, Greg Taylor?
Celtic told Greg Taylor will leave if Kieran Tierney joins from Arsenal
There is talk of Alex Valle having his loan deal cut short and then Barcelona sending him out to sign for Serie A side, FC Como, who are managed by Cesc Fabregas.
If that happens, then it opens the door for Tierney to join right now and Scott Allan feels it would then be the start of the end for Taylor.
Taylor’s contract situation has been a big talking point and Allan thinks Tierney will start if he joins, as he told Clyde 1 Superscorboard.

“I think if Kieran Tierney comes, Greg Taylor is his number one fullback at this moment in time, you would think it would then be Kieran Tierney,” said Allan.
“His minutes would be limited and he would be moving on. I think the fact that Valle is on loan and Tierney would be a loan until the summer, it makes sense.”
Taylor’s stats for Celtic this season
Rodgers has defended Taylor and it’s clear that he wants the Scotland star to sign a new deal and stay on beyond this season.
But, even Taylor can’t argue that if Tierney joins and gets going, then he is starting because he is simply the better player, even though he is different in style.
Taylor prefers coming into midfield and that’s his strength, with WhoScored rating his Premiership performances at 7.23 this season.
