Celtic have been linked with several left-backs during the winter transfer window but the search goes on entering the final hours of deadline day.

The Bhoys need back-up and competition for Greg Taylor with Alexandro Bernabei not fulfilling his potential after being signed during the Ange Postecoglou reign.

With Taylor also recently injured, it’s a position in the team that has become even more urgent to strengthen.

Earlier this afternoon, rumours surrounded a potential move for Peterborough United defender Harrison Burrows to fill that void. However, it appears that one won’t be happening.

Football Scotland reports that Celtic did, in fact, enquire about a potential transfer for him in early January but didn’t follow up on that interest, suggesting they aren’t keen.

It’s also stated that Celtic asked Manchester City about the status of Sergio Gomez but were told a loan move wouldn’t be happening.

Hugo Bueno was another name that the Bhoys pursued but Wolves did not want to do business, according to the outlet.

It has all left Celtic looking for a last-ditch deal and no other names have surfaced over the last few hours. Whoever is being worked on at left-back is a mystery to supporters and reporters, at the moment.

There’s a bit of pressure on the club to deliver. Brendan Rodgers has spoken plainly about his desire to add quality to the squad.

Celtic are also expected to complete a loan move for striker Adam Idah before the deadline.

Meanwhile, there’s reportedly a renewed search to add a midfielder to the ranks as David Turnbull edges towards an exit.
