Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson has opened up on David Turnbull’s potential move to Celtic this week, speaking to radio station Clyde 1.
The outlet reports that Turnbull missed training today ahead of their Europa League qualifier against Glentoran and Robinson isn’t sure whether he will be included in the match squad.
As quoted by Clyde 1, he said of Turnbull and his apparently imminent exit: “I’ve no idea where we’re at right now.
“I don’t get involved in the money side – but if he was valued at £3million last time he’s certainly a £3million player in my eyes. As a player, not just to me, David is a top, top talent and one of the best I believe Scotland will have ever produced.
“We develop players, we’ve done that consistently over the last three and a half years. We sell players every single year.
“I’m delighted for the players who move on because it’s a tribute to the staff here and the work they do. We’ll be delighted if it happens – but if it doesn’t we’ve got a very talented boy.”
After Lennon confirmed Celtic were in talks for the player yesterday, as well as Callum McGregor’s glowing endorsement, it certainly sounds like Turnbull is on the verge of finally making his move to the Scottish champions.
Pundits and supporters have been lining to praise the young midfielder in the early stages of the season, which is an indication he’s put his injury woes behind him after last year’s drama.
Celtic don’t have a massive need for midfielders but the club have to get the timing right on this player before English clubs come in and turn his head towards a move down south.
Turnbull has the potential to play a big role at the Bhoys over the next few years.
