‘A relief’ – Celtic fans issue brutal reaction as to who won’t be returning to Glasgow this summer

There have been a lot of players returning to Celtic in recent times.

From the most popular return of them all, when Kieran Tierney came back this summer, to Shaun Maloney coming back in a coaching capacity.

It has certainly lifted the mood of the Celtic supporters, and in truth, a lot more have been linked with donning the famous green and white colours again.

From former striker Odsonne Edouard, now struggling at Crystal Palace, to former defender Kristoffer Ajer at Brentford.

They won’t be coming back, just as Jeffrey Schlupp won’t be following his next career move.

Celtic fans react to Jeffrey Schlupp joining Norwich City

It was short-lived, but Schlupp still managed to play in the Champions League and also help himself to a winner’s medal during his time at Scotland’s most successful club.

But now, the 32-year-old has joined English Championship side Norwich City on a free transfer after his contract at Crystal Palace expired this summer.

With Celtic and Brendan Rodgers in need of more depth at left-back, they clearly opted against bringing Schlupp back, and it seems to have delighted the fans on social media because they were pretty brutal with their response.

@kmcall80 seems to be glad: ‘That’s a relief. Good luck with that, Norwich.’

@DonegalBall responded with one word: ‘Phew.’

Another Celtic fan who is happy to see Schlupp at Norwich, as @RobertJ90427282 added: ‘They’re welcome to him, couldn’t mark a Bingo card.’

@HighbornCFC noted the games where Schlupp played well for Celtic: ‘We’ll always have Bayern (A)… and St Mirren (A)…’

@pippinchap with a brutal response to Schlupp’s move: ‘Good. Keep him far from Glasgow.’

@0420h3id with a brief analysis of the left-back’s performances for Celtic: ‘Strange one. Against Bayern away, he was outstanding. Run of the mill games in Scotland, he was suspect.’

And the theme continued, as @Steviethestud stated: ‘Celtic dodged a bullet with him.’

@IdeguchiBelt warned Norwich: ‘Count your days, Norwich.’

@pippinchap with a two-word response to Schlupp’s move: ‘Excellent news.’

What has Schlupp said?

Schlupp looked good as soon as he came in, including dethroning Greg Taylor from a starting spot, and starting that second leg in Munich.

But it soon started to slide, and the loan star was on the bench, with Taylor ending the season as the first choice, before he decided to also leave and join PAOK.

It’s going to be interesting to see how the duo fare ahead of the new season, as Schlupp spoke to Norwich City’s YouTube channel about his latest move.

“I’m really excited, it’s something new again, but a lot to look forward to back in the Championship at a big club,” said Schlupp.

“I’ve spoken to the head coach about the plan for this year, and I am excited to be involved. I’m looking forward to meeting all the players and hopefully we can create something special this year.”
