Celtic fans will be hearing a lot about the San Francisco 49ers in the coming months and years.
That’s because Rangers will soon be run by the American enterprise, as they bid to try and stop Celtic’s dominance on the domestic stage.
The 49ers already have their feet inside the footballing door, because they also own newly-promoted Premier League side, Leeds United.
The Yorkshire club won the Championship title during the recently concluded season and will now return to English football’s biggest stage.
In recent weeks, it has been reported that Leeds could target a few Celtic players, including the PFA Player of the Year, Daizen Maeda.
But now, another Celtic hero, who departed the club in 2023 under Ange Postecoglou, could be on their radar, as they bid to stay in the Premier League.

Ex-Celtic star Josip Juranovic targeted by Premier League clubs, including Leeds United
Josip Juranovic was a top performer at Celtic, but then, during the January transfer window of 2023, he headed for the exit door and joined Union Berlin.
The 29-year-old enjoyed a fruitful two years at Celtic Park, but now Leeds United, with the financial backing of the 49ers, alongside Fulham, West Ham United and Burnley are keen on the player.
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey states that Juranovic’s ‘versatility’ is appealing to Leeds, as he has also been deployed on the left by Union this term.
If this deal goes through, then it remains to be seen what Celtic will get from it, because many will be hoping there is some sort of sell-on clause after his near £10 million transfer to the German club.
Juranovic and Alistair Johnston’s Celtic career in numbers
Celtic’s recruitment has worked wonders for a very long time now, including Alistair Johnston coming in and making that right-back spot his own.
It would be interesting to hear from Celtic fans, if you asked them to pick between Johnston and Juranovic, and who they would go for.
Whatever the case, both of them have been outstanding.
