Alvyn Sanches is a name on Celtic’s radar as they search for late deals in the final stages of the transfer window.

The Lausanne-Sport midfielder has emerged as a potential alternative to Mateusz Bogusz after the Bhoys abandoned their pursuit of the LAFC man.

According to reports, Sanches has previously held talks with Celtic over a move to Glasgow and could be available for as little as £3 million.

Born in France, the playmaker represents Switzerland’s Under-21 side at international level and has also attracted interest from Burnley, Nice, Anderlecht and Club Brugge.

Dundee captain Luke McCowan has also been mentioned as someone Celtic could make a late play for this window. However, if developments are anything to go by, a deal for Sanches could be simplified due to Lausanne’s openness to adopting a flexible stance in negotiations.

According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic could launch a late permanent move for Sanches, but Lausanne could also be open to sanctioning an initial loan deal with an option to buy the midfielder.

Often a practice that is favoured late into the window due to time constraints, there could be hope yet for the reigning Scottish Premiership champions in their search for a second body in the engine room.

Arne Engels is primed to be the other midfield addition for Celtic this window after they agreed an £11 million deal to sign him from Augsburg.

Admittedly, there may be further updates on the situation by the time this comes out, but that is where it is as we stand.

Starting this term in strong fashion, Sanches has registered two goals in five appearances for Lausanne, with both coming against Champel in the Swiss Cup.

In light of Lausanne’s open-minded approach, supporters will be intrigued by his potential arrival at Celtic Park. Hopefully, the Bhoys can firm up their advances in the coming hours.
