With Nicolas Kuhn on the verge of being announced as a new Celtic signing, the league leaders will finally make their first big move of the January transfer window shortly.
The Rapid Vienna attacker is in the country to finalise a switch to the Bhoys and will add new competition to the attacking wide areas.
However, there are other priorities beyond his signature and it appears bringing in a striker is a big one for the club.
The Daily Record reports that Brendan Rodgers is taking a more hands-on role in recruitment this month and he isn’t keen on adding to the squad unless the incoming player will improve his matchday squad.
It’s said that several strikers are now being evaluated by the recruitment staff but that they are primarily loan options.
While open to making a permanent striker signing this month, it’s thought that a loan move for a forward is now more likely with better value available during the summer window.

That might not go down well with some supporters eager for the club to show more ambition in the transfer market, but if it means that Rodgers gets the quality he wants for the rest of the season, it’s better to have that person in the door than not.
A left-sided player to compete with Greg Taylor is still in the offing too, with Celtic said to still be interested in a move for Thiago Araujo, despite few updates on a potential deal in recent weeks.
Owen Beck’s name has also been consistently linked with Celtic this month with latest reports on Tuesday indicating the Bhoys remain keen on a deal for him.
