Celtic are expected to be busy on transfer deadline day.

It has already been a rather interesting and busy January transfer window for all involved, as Celtic look and search for that much-needed striker after Kyogo Furuhashi’s exit.

Well, there is some striker news to bring to the Celtic supporters, but perhaps not what people were expecting because it involves West Ham United.

The London club, who are managed by Graham Potter, are looking to bolster their forward line and they have been linked with Daniel Cummings.

The Celtic academy star is out of contract in the summer and is set to sign a pre-contract agreement with West Ham for the summer.

The Hammers have been trying to get a deal done for the 18-year-old before the 11pm transfer deadline slams shut.

Latest on West Ham United’s pursuit of Celtic striker Daniel Cummings

Sky Sports are providing wall-to-wall coverage of deadline day and they have reported on Monday morning that Celtic have ‘rejected West Ham’s improved offer’ for Cummings.

It was suggested that the latest offer was in the region of ‘£500k’ and, in total, ‘two bids’ have been rejected, hours before the deadline.

But the significant update is that West Ham will ‘no longer be pursuing a deal in this window’ and Celtic will be ‘due £350k in compensation’ once that pre-contract has been signed.

“Celtic have rejected West Ham’s improved offer for the striker, Daniel Cummings,” shared Sky Sports.

“Two bids rejected this morning. It’s understood West Ham will no longer be pursuing a deal in this window. The 18-year-old has agreed terms on a pre-contract and the Premier League club will look to finalise that this week.

“Celtic will be due £350k in compensation, once a pre-contract is completed and then he can join West Ham in the summer.”

Cummings stats for Celtic

Ben Doak joining Liverpool, and even most recently, Rocco Vata going to Watford, it’s the norm for those coming through at Celtic to pursue a career in England.

At the end of the day, you can’t blame them because the financial reward is huge and it seems as though that is what is on offer to Cummings.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that there is so much interest in his talents because he has been scoring for fun in Celtic’s younger age groups.
