Celtic have rejected a six-figure sum for academy talent Daniel Cummings.

The Celtic Academy youngster made his first-team debut in the Hoops’ Champions League defeat to Aston Villa last week.

Cummings has been scoring goals for fun in Celtic’s B team with 18 goals in 18 appearances in the Lowland League so far.

With his Celtic contract expiring at the end of the season, Cummings has been linked with the likes of Sunderland and Wolves as well as Serie A side, Bologna.

However, West Ham has been leading the race for the talented Hoops youngster and Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph has shared how much Celtic have rejected from the Premier League club.

West Ham consider improved offer as Celtic reject £500,000 bid for Daniel Cummings

The Sky Sports reporter dropped an update on West Ham’s stance on the Celtic kid as he shared how the Hoops had thrown out a bid from the Premier League strugglers.

Joseph said on X, “UPDATE: Celtic have rejected West Ham’s opening bid for striker Daniel Cummings.

“Talks are ongoing with West Ham considering an improved offer.

“It’s understood the Premier League club made a bid in the region of £500,000 for the 18-year-old.”

What advice Brendan Rodgers gave Daniel Cummings as Celtic exit looms

Despite the young attacker’s impressive performance in the Lowland League for Celtic B, Cummings has struggled to earn his place in the Celtic first-team squad.

However, that cannot be completely laid at Cummings’ door as he has had to compete with Kyogo and Adam Idah for that solitary striker role Brendan Rodgers likes to deploy.

But despite that, Rodgers gave Cummings some solid advice but it seems that may have fallen on deaf ears if West Ham get their way.

Rodgers told the Celtic youngster, “There’s so much involved in a young player getting an opportunity to play. I would like to think that I’ve been a coach that all my career, I’ve put in young players. If you trace my career back as a manager, before (in) my 15 years as a youth development coach, I’ve played players at 16 years of age, 17, 18.

“It’s not just about scoring goals or performing, it’s your mentality, it’s your professionalism, it’s all these things alongside ability that is what gets you the opportunity, so that’s always something I’ll assess. I think in terms of Daniel’s output, his goals in his games, he’s done very well.
