Celtic fans are speculating as to why it’s taking so long to secure key targets in the transfer window.
The Hoops have around three weeks left to sign at least two wingers to replace the injured Jota and the departed Nicolas Kuhn, and to possibly recruit another striker.
Brendan Rodgers had no fresh transfer news for supporters at his Friday press conference, but is confident the work will be done by September 1.
Celtic have seen a number of lowball offers rejected for players, but nobody really knows why the heavily criticised board haven’t got the deals done as of yet.
Derek Ferguson, however, has a theory. And it’s laughable, to say the least.

Ferguson thinks Celtic are ‘watching’ what Rangers are doing
Former Rangers midfielder Ferguson was speaking on the latest Open Goal podcast and floated a possible reason why Celtic haven’t yet signed the necessary attacking reinforcements.
He thinks Celtic could be sitting back and keeping tabs on what Rangers are doing in the transfer market before they spend big late in the window.
But Ferguson was put in his place for such a ridiculous suggestion:
Ferguson: “So it’s definitely not the case that Celtic are just sitting off a wee bit, watching Rangers, seeing what business they are doing…”
Ferry: “But why? Why should Celtic be watching what Rangers are doing?
Ferguson: “I know, I’m just throwing it out there as an argument.”
McFadden: “Celtic should be putting the marker down and saying to Rangers: ‘This is what we’re doing’. And then putting the onus on Rangers.”
Rodgers refused to divulge reason for Celtic transfer delay
Rodgers was asked directly by a journalist what the hold-up is. Is it taking too long to identify players, or are the negotiations for the players proving difficult?
However, the Celtic boss refused to go into specifics.
He replied: “No, I don’t really want to go into that, it’s not the forum for that. It’s one where our scouts and recruitment are working ever so hard identifying players, really good players.
“So yeah, we just hope by the endgame that we can get the right level of player in that can help us and improve us.”
