What Motherwell fans did in Lennon Miller’s expected final home game amid Celtic transfer links

Lennon Miller has been one of the top talents in Scotland this season.

Celtic’s Daizen Maeda walked away with the PFA Player of the Year award, but it was Miller who won the Young Player of the Year.

The 18-year-old has been a key feature of Motherwell’s midfield, helping the club survive relegation, especially after the unexpected departure of their manager, Stuart Kettlewell in January.

Therefore, it isn’t a surprise that the likes of Celtic are looking to sign Miller ahead of the summer transfer window re-opening.

Celtic’s transfer model proves that this is the type of deal they do on a regular, so it is one to watch out for in the coming months.

But, in the meantime, Miller is enjoying ending the 2024/25 Premiership season on a high with Motherwell.

Motherwell hosted Derek McInnes’ Kilmarnock for their final home game of the season at Fir Park, and they put on a show.

Michael Wimmer’s side won 3-0, with Miller assisting the third goal, before being subbed off in the 88th minute.

In what is expected to be his final home game, the Motherwell fans gave Miller ‘a wonderful ovation’, as journalist Jane Lewis told BBC Sport from Fir Park.

‘Lennon Miller has just left the pitch, and what a wonderful ovation he was treated to from the Motherwell fans,’ wrote Jane Lewis for BBC Sport.

‘Could it be the last time they see him here at Fir Park?’

Miller’s stats compared to Celtic’s Arne Engels

Both Miller and Celtic’s club-record transfer Arne Engels were up for the Young Player of the Year prize, with the former walking away with the individual prize.

There has been a lot of noise around Engels this term, with that price tag weighing down on him when he isn’t performing well.

But this is how Engels ranks in his first campaign at Celtic compared to the Motherwell teenager’s breakthrough campaign, as rated by WhoScored.
