The Celtic fans are pushing and urging the board to bring in fresh faces to boost Martin O’Neill’s squad.

Several areas of the pitch need to be boosted and enhanced at Celtic, no more so than the middle of the park.

One man who has recently been linked with Celtic is Mory Gbane.

67 Hail Hail has taken a deep dive into a player who could help ease the pressure off captain Callum McGregor if he moves to Glasgow this summer.

Celtic fans have been crying out for a midfielder with a bit of bite. If the club can land Gbane’s talents, then he might just fit that bill.

Standing over 6ft tall, he is currently plying his trade in France’s second division for Stade de Reims, so in that sense, it shouldn’t be hard to lure him away from the club.

But at the end of the day, this is Celtic you are talking about, and a board that would take marathon time to run a 100-metre race.

One thing is for sure, Gbane is a well-travelled footballer.

If anyone questions whether he would want to move to Glasgow and the champions of Scotland, then his CV speaks for itself because he has played across the footballing world.

The hard-hitting midfielder started his playing career in his homeland of Côte d’Ivoire, before playing in Croatia, Russia, Portugal and now France.

Added to that, Gbane has two caps for his country, both earned in 2025, but he failed to make his nation’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.

How did Gbane fare last season?

Gbane missed out on a play-off spot and possible promotion to Ligue 1 with his Stade de Reims during the recently concluded campaign.

The Ivorian star had moved to Reims during the January transfer window of 2025, as they were on course for relegation to the second tier.

Despite expectations and hope of making a swift return, it wasn’t the case, as Reims fell short by two points, but they did reach the quarter-finals of the French Cup.
