Celtic have found out if they are in pole position to sign one free agent.

Brendan Rodgers has signed seven players this summer but knows he needs more to bolster his squad for a busy season ahead.

It looks like plenty of deadwood will be heading for the exit door at Celtic Park but they will need to be replaced to ensure there are enough options across the pitch.

The free agent market can be good to find those types of players and that’s exactly where the Bhoys had been shopping.

Sadly for Celtic, it looks as if they will be missing out on another addition after Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph confirmed that Jeffrey Schlupp is close to joining Norwich City.

Schlupp spent the second half of last season on loan and has been a free agent since leaving Crystal Palace in May.

Joseph said that talks are progressing well between Schlupp and Norwich, suggesting that he will be heading to Carrow Road ahead of the start of the 2025/26 Championship campaign.

Norwich City have been Celtic’s Achilles heel this transfer window

It’s not the first time Celtic and Norwich have crossed paths this transfer window.

Norwich took Mathias Kvistgaarden from under Celtic’s noses after discovering a hidden release clause in Kvistgaarden’s contract at Brondby.

Fake images of Hyunjun Yang in a Norwich shirt also went viral as the East Anglian outfit eye up the South Korea international.

To hear that they’ve lost out on a second player to the English second tier side will be frustrating to everyone.
