Celtic have been linked with striker Mathias Kvistgaarden for almost two years now.
That speculation intensified to new levels when after two scouting missions, Celtic decided to launch a transfer deadline day bid in February for the Dane.
Brondby rejected the offer quickly, before Kvistgaarden went on to see out the season with 17 league goals scored in 29 appearances.
Eintracht Frankfurt and West Ham United both like Kvistgaarden, with Celtic seemingly having ‘reservations’ over another approach.
Now, it has been revealed that Kvistgaarden is on the verge of a switch to Ligue 1, which almost certainly ends any hope of Celtic trying to recruit him.

Kvistgaarden subject of RC Lens transfer bid
According to Tipsbladet, Kvistgaarden is the subject of a bid from RC Lens, with the French outfit positive a deal can be reached.
Brondby and Lens are said to be currently negotiating over a potential sale, and Lens think they are extremely close to an agreement.
However, Kvistgaarden has not agreed personal terms yet and the report adds that EFL Championship side Norwich City are lurking.
Brondby want to make Kvistgaarden their most expensive transfer sale and they are said to be holding out for €13m for their star man.
Celtic links with Kvistgaarden can be put to bed
With the likes of Lens and Eintracht Frankfurt involved in the race to sign Kvistgaarden, Celtic’s hopes have faded.
Kvistgaarden was first linked with the Hoops in August 2023 at a time when he was less established and much cheaper.
The deal really should have been done then, and then it would be Celtic in the position of negotiating a massive sale this summer.
Celtic have Daizen Maeda, Adam Idah, Callum Osmand and Johnny Kenny as their striker options at the moment.
Rodgers may require another depending on the future of both Maeda and Kenny.
