67 Hail Hail ranks the five worst loan signings made by Brendan Rodgers whilst Celtic manager across his first and second spells.

Charly Musonda
Musonda was signed in the January 2018 transfer window on loan for the rest of the season with the Chelsea winger tipped for big things.
He had scored one goal in seven appearances that season for the Blues, but his promise quickly faded whilst at Celtic.
Musonda found himself on the bench most weeks – he only made eight appearances – as the Hoops went on to wrap up another domestic Treble.
His loan was terminated early in the end because of the lack of minutes under Rodgers.
Daniel Arzani
Arzani was signed by Manchester City in the summer of 2018 from Melbourne City and was quickly loaned out for two years to Celtic.
And while the loan lasted the full duration, the Aussie winger played just twice, largely because of a serious ACL injury sustained on his first-team debut against Dundee.
Arzani featured more for Celtic’s reserves than the first-team, failing to break into Neil Lennon’s team after recovering from the injury.
Jeremy Toljan
Including Toljan in this list feels a bit harsh because the former Borussia Dortmund full-back wasn’t the worst player in the world.
He is one of those forgettable loan signings, or an answer to an obscure Celtic pub quiz question 20 years from now.
The German was actually Rodgers’ final signing for Celtic before leaving for Leicester City in February 2019.
Toljan made 14 appearances to help see out Celtic’s third domestic Treble in as many seasons.
Nat Phillips
Phillips was a central defensive recruit from Liverpool at the start of Rodgers’ second Celtic spell, and he had a somewhat decent reputation.
However, he proved to be completely incapable for Celtic at the back across his eight appearances, before leaving in the January.
Phillips scored an own goal against Kilmarnock and looked like a fish out of water in the Champions League group stage.
Jahmai Simpson-Pusey
And now to the inspiration for this piece, Jahmai Simpson-Pusey. Celtic fans are yet to see the young defender play a single minute for the club.
The Manchester City defender has made the bench just twice for the home and away legs against Kairat Almaty.
When will we see him play? Why on earth did City allow Celtic to sign him on loan when he isn’t getting any game time. Such a strange signing, for now…
