‘Absolutely fascinating’ – BBC man stunned with what Brendan Rodgers did post-match at Celtic Park

Brendan Rodgers left nothing out of his post-match press conference after Celtic’s draw with Kairat Almaty.

The Celtic boss criticised Adam Idah and Rodgers also went after the Parkhead transfer policy as he refused to answer questions on whether or not new signings were forthcoming.

Celtic’s draw with Kairat leaves their Champions League chances hanging by a thread and the criticism the club is getting has been fierce from the fans.

However, it was how Brendan Rodgers carried himself at the post-match press conference that blew BBC presenter Kenny McIntyre away.

Brendan Rodgers’ ‘body language’ after Celtic’s draw with Kairat fascinates BBC man

A lot can be heard when a manager gives his verdict about performances on the radio but it’s what Celtic fans didn’t see last night that McIntyre had to highlight.

McIntyre said on BBC Sportsound, “And guys, I think I need to share with you, I’m sure Tom will agree, the body language there was absolutely fascinating from the Celtic manager.

“In terms of the game tonight, lack of intent, too passive, much better in the second half.

“Need to improve the squad, not his decision in the end as to who comes in. For me, the headline was, there are only so many ways that I can dress up why we haven’t got players in. Tom, we said it would be fascinating, I think that press conference delivered it all.”

Brendan Rodgers’ uncomfortable post-match Celtic press conference

To give a little flavour of what McIntyre was speaking about, here is a snippet of Rodgers speaking to the press after Celtic’s Kairat Almaty stalemate.

Rodgers looked uncomfortable as he addressed the ‘sack the board’ comments. The Celtic boss also tried smiling his way through the presser but, in reality, even he knows there was no defending what led to this result.

A good win at home against Livingston will be required on Saturday because if the Celtic board thought last night was bad, the unrest, if anything is dropped against David Martindale’s team will be unreal.
