Brendan Rodgers shares why Nicolas Kuhn was wearing a plaster on his eye as Celtic beat Hibernian

It’s great to see Nicolas Kuhn back on the scoresheet for Celtic.

During the first half of the campaign, Kuhn was flying in Celtic colours, and he was proving to be the best player in Scotland.

But then, for months after the New Year, Celtic’s flying winger hit a brick wall and that blistering form went out of the window.

It even resulted in Brendan Rodgers dropping Kuhn to the bench, before he returned to the XI in between his recent injury that saw him miss the final Glasgow derby of the campaign.

On Saturday, as Celtic beat Hibernian, the man on the right flank opened the scoring and continued his recent run of strong form.

The Celtic Park faithful would have noticed a plaster on Kuhn’s left side, and that was explained.

Why Nicolas Kuhn was wearing a plaster on his eye

After being unavailable for the Rangers match and not training in the lead-up to the game, it seems as though Kuhn returned to Lennoxtown with a bang.

Rodgers stated that the German had ‘a bit of a knock’ in the lead up to the Hibs game, and it required stitches, hence the plaster on his eye, as he told BBC Radio Scotland.

“His speed and goal threat is really important for us,” said Rodgers. “He has had a fantastic season.

“He has got some stitches on his eyes, where he has had a bit of a knock during the week, but otherwise, he looks really fit and raring to go.”

A goal, an assist and a yellow card for Kuhn. He got many things ticked off during the game.

Celtic have been utterly dominant, so it’s understandable if a few players take their eye off the ball, and that’s what happened with Kuhn.

But that kick up the backside has worked a treat because WhoScored gave him a rating of 8.25 against Hibs, only Reo Hatate (8.49) was rated higher.
