The 2024/25 domestic season concluded last month, as Celtic secured the double in Scotland, but there is still plenty of action going on across the globe.

The revamped FIFA Club World Cup is taking place in the USA, the U21 European Championships in Slovakia, and the U19 European Championships in Romania.

Many would have seen Celtic’s Paulo Bernardo starring for Portugal U21s, as they reached the knockout stages by topping Group C ahead of France.

That’s the only Celtic connection in that tournament, but there isn’t one in the U19s, directly at least.

With the 2025 summer transfer window officially opened, the Celtic Park faithful are eager to see who the club bring in, and one name that has popped up and produced the unthinkable on Tuesday.

Celtic transfer target Jesse Derry scores in epic England and Germany U19s showdown

Jesse Derry was linked with Celtic in April, along with Rangers, as the Crystal Palace youngster has seemingly refused to extend his stay at Selhurst Park.

The 17-year-old, who is a wide attacking player, started out on the flanks for the England U19s, and watched his team go 5-1 down after 48 minutes.

But that’s when the young guns turned the screw in an epic fashion, with goals in the 52nd, 55th, and 60th minute to give the Germans the scare of their lives.

That’s when Derry popped up, in the 63rd minute, to complete the comeback and help his side clinch an incredible point.

This is the type of deal Celtic would conclude because it’s right down their street.

Bring in a young gem from England, develop him, watch him thrive for Scotland’s most successful club, and then sell him on for a healthy profit.

Just look at what Celtic are planning with Fulham youngster Callum Osmand; the teenage striker could join the champions of Scotland this summer and jump straight into the senior side.

And with Derry progressing at a fast rate, including so much noise around his signature, this is one to watch out for as the summer window builds up.
