Brendan Rodgers has led Celtic to another Scottish Premiership triumph.

Victory against Dundee United on Saturday afternoon ensured the Hoops won their fourth league title under the Northern Irishman.

It also meant the Bhoys equalled the record for the most top-flight titles in Scottish league history, a fact Celtic fans immediately pointed out to Rangers in the aftermath of Saturday’s win.

Coming into the game, however, rumours had been circulating about Brendan Rodgers’ future at Celtic Park.

As a result, in the emotion following the win at Tannadice, Rodgers put to bed those rumours by confirming where he will be next year.

Brendan Rodgers confirms ‘200%’ he’ll be at Celtic next season

Speaking on Sky Sports following the game, Rodgers was asked by Chris Sutton about his future.

In response, the 50-year-old said, “What I can say without any avoidance of doubt: I will be here next year, 200%.”

In what should be music to Celtic fans’ ears, Rodgers added: “I’ve never been happier here, I’ve had the most amazing season with the support of the club, the players, how they’ve performed.”

Rodgers also hit out at some of the reports linking him with a move away, saying: “No one knows me, bar very few [people], and there’s even less who understand me.”

Ally McCoist had tipped Rodgers for the Tottenham job, should former Bhoys boss Ange Postecoglou be sacked before the start of next season.

If that is to happen, and in a boost to all associated with Celtic, Rodgers’ words make a move to North London very unlikely.

In the same interview following the game, Rodgers also looked ahead to his immediate and longer-term future as Celtic manager.

On the former, he was quick to maintain focus on the football still to be played this season, asking of his squad: “Can we now finish this season strong?”

With a Scottish Cup final to come against Aberdeen, and the chance to win the treble for the third time with the club, it is important that the Celtic first team continues to maintain its high performance levels.

Beyond this season, Rodgers was also keen to focus on improvements to be made over the summer and into next season, with an eye on being more competitive in the Champions League.

The former Leicester boss said: “Can we regroup again in the Summer, and then be even stronger next season?”

On competing in the Champions League, Rodgers added: “It’s confidence, it’s improving the squad, it’s just being competitive.

“We’re not going to win the Champions League, but we can do what we did with Bayern Munich, give [teams] something to think about. That gives your team belief, and then you go again next season.”

While the most optimistic fans might not like Rodgers’ comments regarding not being able to win the Champions League, it is refreshing to hear him already planning for how to improve his squad ahead of the next campaign.
