How Adam Idah fared on his first league start for Swansea City, as Celtic struggle in front of goal

Celtic and Adam Idah parted ways in the summer.

It was an abrupt end for the Republic of Ireland international, whose final Celtic game was the defeat to Kairat Almaty in the Champions League qualifiers.

Those two matches, goalless draws, have probably summed up Celtic’s season because, even after Idah has left, Brendan Rodgers’ side have struggled in front of goal.

But how has Idah fared for Swansea after returning to the English Championship?

With Swansea winless in their last two matches, including a goalless draw against Southampton last time out, manager Alan Sheehan brought Idah into the XI for the visit of QPR on Wednesday evening.

After 34 minutes, the Welsh side, who were already losing 1-0, were down to ten men when Malick Yalcouye was shown a straight red card, and that didn’t help Idah’s cause.

The double-winner with Celtic had a rough ride after that, and couldn’t get going before he was replaced by Zan Vipotnik with ten minutes left on the clock.

Idah and Celtic’s struggles in front of goal

Idah hasn’t got going yet at Swansea, and he hasn’t been helped by the fact that he had no pre-season with his new club and arrived after their season had started.

The Republic of Ireland international’s sole goal came against Leicester City, but whilst he tries to find some rhythm in front of goal, Celtic can’t shout about much either.

After eight Premiership games, not only are Hearts flying high at the top, but Celtic only have 11 goals to their name, as the leaders have netted 19.
