Celtic fans will still have to get used to seeing Kyogo Furuhashi in colours other than their own.
On Sunday, as Celtic were beating Motherwell and Jota was making the perfect comeback by scoring on his second debut for the club.
Kyogo was making his Rennes debut in France and helping his relegation-threatened side secure a 1-0 win over European-chasing, Strasbourg.
Weeks before the Japan star’s exit, there were a lot of rumours flying around about his future, but not many expected it to end in such an abrupt manner.
Celtic’s win over Young Boys in the Champions League, and their passage into the play-offs, proved to be the final match of his trophy-laden and goal-crazy career at Parkhead.
It was even more of a surprise that Kyogo decided to join Rennes, but he had his reasons and this is how he faired on debut.
Kyogo Furuhashi helps Habib Beye win first game as Rennes manager
Kyogo wasn’t the only one looking to make an impression with his new supporters because Rennes had a new manager in the dugout.
Jorge Sampaoli was sacked as Rennes boss and former Villa and Newcastle defender, Habib Beye, was put in charge and he through Kyogo straight into the starting line-up.
The 30-year-old had an un-eventful debut, playing just over an hour and failing to get involved in a game that created very little for him.
That included having only seven touches of the ball and making four passes, as posted by WhoScored.

What Kyogo did post-match will be familiar to Celtic fans
Even though Kyogo didn’t have the best of games, he was still front and centre of the post-match celebrations.
This was a huge win for the club and Kyogo, and like he used to do at Celtic, he was leading the charge post-match.
It’s a familiar sight for Celtic fans and it’s one Rennes supporters will be hoping they get used to because it will mean avoiding the dreaded drop.
