Ten Celtic players have been on international duty during this past week.
It has proven to be a mixed time with all, with Benjamin Nygren getting the cold shoulder as Sweden’s 2026 World Cup chances plummet, and several others missing out through injury.
But not many have probably had a better time than Celtic’s new left-back Marcelo Saracchi.
Not only did Marcelo Bielsa name Saracchi as Uruguay’s captain during their win over the Dominican Republic last time out, but he backed that up by beating Uzbekistan on Monday.

Marcelo Saracchi plays his first back-to-back 90 minutes for Uruguay
Whilst Bielsa handed Saracchi the armband against the Dominican Republic, it was rotated around again against Uzbekistan, but the on-loan Celtic star kept his place in the XI.
This was Saracchi’s 11th cap for his country, and the first time he has ever played back-to-back 90 minutes for his nation.
That’s the magic of playing for Celtic!
How Saracchi rated for Uruguay against Uzbekistan
The rating Saracchi received in the previous match was 7.3, but it dropped slightly against Uzbekistan.
Sofascore handed the Boca Juniors loanee 6.8 for his efforts in this friendly encounter at Hang Jebat Stadium in Malaysia.
