Where have you been hiding that, Cameron Carter-Vickers?
The Celtic defender is a quiet figure, and he usually lets his hard-hitting defending do the talking on the field of play.
But, as Celtic thrashed Kilmarnock 5-1 in the Premiership on Saturday afternoon, he channeled his inner Cristiano Ronaldo by scoring a goal of a lifetime.
Only last week, Brendan Rodgers was annoyed with Celtic’s performance against St Johnstone, after the champions-elect were beaten at the Premiership’s bottom club.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 1 | 33 | 26 | 3 | 4 | 97 | 22 | 75 | 81 | |
| 2 | 32 | 20 | 5 | 7 | 66 | 33 | 33 | 65 | |
| 3 | 32 | 13 | 11 | 8 | 50 | 41 | 9 | 50 | |
| 4 | 33 | 14 | 8 | 11 | 41 | 40 | 1 | 50 |
Carter-Vickers was part of that side, but he knew that a response was needed against a struggling Killie team that have caused Celtic problems before.
But, as expected, Celtic started like a house on fire, and they were 2-0 up after 11 minutes, and then in the 21st minute, Carter-Vickers strapped a rocket to his boot and unleashed an almighty shot, from more than 30 yards, at an angle, and into the top corner.
It left many people inside Celtic Park stunned, including those across the pond in Carter-Vickers’ home country of the USA.

How the American media reacted to Cameron Carter-Vickers’ goal for Celtic against Kilmarnock
On the international stage, Carter-Vickers is still trying to prove his worth for the USMNT, but that’s not the case at club level.
The 27-year-old is loving life, and this moment is perhaps one of his best as a Celtic player.
As you can imagine, the American media were amazed by his goal, including one American-based account, ‘Men in Blazers’, so shocked that all they could do was express their feelings in nothing, but cap locks.
Former USMNT player Stuart Holden was also left, both amazed and delighted, by Carter-Vickers’ goal, as he shared on social media.
‘STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND WATCH THIS CAMERON CARTER-VICKERS GOAL. ONLY THING BETTER THAN SEEING A CB HAMMER ONE FROM DISTANCE? WATCHING A USMNT CB HAMMER ONE FROM DISTANCE,’ wrote Men in Blazers.
CBS Sports added: ‘CAMERON CARTER-VICKERS HAS THIS IN HIS LOCKER?! Go off’
Stuart Holden was also left shocked: ‘I think Cameron Carter-Vickers decided he was going to shoot as soon as he received the ball 40 yards from goal. WOW lol, what a hit!!!’
@usmntonly also loved his goal: ‘CAMERON CARTER-VICKERS GOLAZO 🔥🔥🔥
How the American fans reacted to Carter-Vickers’ goal
Any time, or every time, Carter-Vickers is now with the ball at a certain distance from goal, then you know what the reaction is going to be from the fans, ‘shoooooooot’.
They are going to want him to shoot every time, even though it’s a goal he simply won’t be able to repeat, even if he had a PlayStation controller in hand.
Either way, the American fans on social media rightfully gave Carter-Vickers his flowers for his quite outrageous goal.
@MalibuUnited noted Alistair Johnston’s reaction: ‘We are all Alistair Johnston.’
@paintedcooler with an interesting take: ‘Another guy who performs for club > country’.
@clancyhughes with a Ronaldo comparison: ‘“Too far for Ronaldo to think about”’
Everyone will agree with @KCPayne26’s point: ‘This has to be a nominee for goal of the year:’
@nickweinstein27 making reference to Crystal Palace’s Chris Richards scoring at Manchester City: ‘American CBs decide to score some goals today huh?’
@BTMcGinnis can’t stop watching it: ‘I’ve watched this roughly 2,000 times.’
@FFFUSAIN added: ‘CCV chill bro’.
@TheDizzyBengal gave Carter-Vickers his flowers: ‘2 goals by American Centerbacks this morning. Chris Richard’s on the header off a corner kick and CCV with an absolute worldie of a strike!’
