It’s sad to say but Kasper Schmeichel’s days at Celtic are numbered following another troublesome time in goal.
Schmeichel endured a horror show against Stuttgart and was responsible for at least three of the goals conceded.
The 39-year-old was booed by large sections of the Parkhead crowd in the second half and looked dejected at the full time whistle.
He will be desperate to turn things around, but it’s clear that his best days are behind him after a series of high-profile errors.

You have £10m to spend on a new goalkeeper to replace Kasper Schmeichel…
Who do you pick?
The Kasper Schmeichel nightmare continues
The stats from Schmeichel’s performance against Stuttgart make for grim reading.
Most notably, an average of minus 1.78 for goals prevented across the 90 minutes tells a sorry tale.
Martin O’Neill alluded to Schmeichel having shoulder problems before the Hoops’ Scottish Cup win against Dundee, but even that excuse is becoming tiresome.
Age will also be playing a factor into this. His reflexes are not what they used to be, and with Schmeichel’s contract up this summer, it is clear that it should not be extended.
What do Celtic do with Kasper Schmeichel for the rest of the season?
There isn’t long left this season but, with so much on the line, a serious conversation needs to be had about the goalkeeper role.
Viljami Sinisalo has waited and waited for his chance but making such a huge change could cause even more confusion.
Where has it gone wrong for Kasper Schmeichel this season?
Let us know in the comments
Sinisalo has never failed between the sticks and can handle the responsibility too. Games against Hibernian, two Glasgow derbies in the space of a week, Aberdeen, Motherwell and the second leg against Stuttgart would provide the ultimate test but we wouldn’t know how he fares unless he is put into that situation.
