Celtic’s new boy, Kelechi Iheanacho, is officially in the building and meeting his new teammates.
The 28-year-old has played in England and Spain, and he now ventures into the world of Scottish football, which is being dominated by Celtic.
It needs to be noted that Iheanacho has had no pre-season, because his contract was being terminated by Sevilla, and he joined the champions of Scotland after transfer deadline day.
So, will the versatile forward be available for Celtic’s Premiership trip to Rugby Park to take on Kilmarnock on Sunday?

Kelechi Iheanacho on being ‘ready’ for Celtic against Kilmarnock
The simple answer is, yes. Expect Iheanacho to feature, and hopefully, he can do the talking on the field of play, because there has been a lot of negative noise around his transfer.
This isn’t anything of his doing, but given how Celtic’s 2025 summer transfer window panned out, it’s his free signing transfer that has caught the eye, especially given that he is the one to replace the departed £7 million man, Adam Idah.
Either way, Iheanacho’s response to Celtic TV on whether or not he will play against Killie over the weekend was just brilliant.
“I am ready,” shared Iheanacho. “I have always been ready since I started playing football, so I am always ready.”
Iheanacho’s record under Brendan Rodgers
The other positive around this transfer is the fact that Iheanacho has worked with Brendan Rodgers before at Leicester City.
So, in that sense, he doesn’t need to get used to the Celtic manager’s way of working, both on the training pitch and in-game.
It will be interesting to see how Rodgers uses Iheanacho because he can play out wide, behind the striker, and on his own up top.
- Iheanacho’s games under Rodgers: 143
- Goals: 43
- Assists: 25
