Kelechi Iheanacho took part in his first training session as a Celtic player this week.

The Nigerian international made his move to Parkhead after transfer deadline day as Iheanacho signed for Celtic after being released from his Sevilla contract.

Iheanacho’s signing has split the opinion of the Celtic support and as daft theories about the striker’s fitness circled online, that myth was dispelled after the club released footage of his first training session at Lennoxtown.

But in the video, the Celtic coaches were left blown away as one under-fire player got some unexpected praise for what he did during the training session.

Hyunjun Yang steals the limelight from Kelechi Iheanacho’s first Celtic training session

Celtic fans know all about the rumours of Kelechi Iheanacho’s fitness and it seems the club moved swiftly to dispel those.

In an unusually long video release, Celtic posted footage of Iheanacho in action at Lennoxtown but it was Hyunjun Yang who got some special praise from the Hoops coaches.

As the team were put through their paces, Yang’s work in an intense passing drill got him some well-deserved ‘different class son’ praise from the coach and a round of applause from the onlooking Brendan Rodgers.

Hyunjun Yang’s Celtic future

Yang was reportedly on his way out of Celtic on transfer deadline day until the move collapsed at the last minute.

The South Korean was close to sealing a move to Birmingham City until Celtic recalled him which caused the move to fall through.

It was another one of those shambolic decisions made by the board that has angered Celtic supporters into calling them into question this summer.

Will Yang be at Celtic until the end of this season? The smart money would be on the winger getting a January move but seeing how the club conducted business this summer, anything could happen with the international winger.
