Celtic manager Martin O’Neill will face a decision on whether Kieran Tierney or Marcelo Saracchi should start at left-back against Motherwell.

O’Neill said that Tierney could be available for this weekend’s clash after missing the Hoops’ win against Rangers in the Scottish Cup.

The Bhoys are chasing down Hearts and could cut the gap to two points if results go their way, but who should play?

Martin O’Neill should start Kieran Tierney against Motherwell

If Tierney is fit enough to play, then it is a no-brainer for him to start.

Tierney is one of the options to replace Callum McGregor as captain for this weekend’s clash as the 32-year-old continues his spell on the sidelines.

The left-back is one of the few leaders in the dressing room and his presence would be an added bonus.

Saracchi is a reliable player and, if the game is beyond doubt, rotating the two players could prove to be a wise option to preserve energy.

Celtic predicted XI to face Motherwell

Up front is where the final decision has to be made for O’Neill.

Tomas Cvancara has grounds to start after his winning penalty heroics and will probably get the nod ahead of Junior Adamu or Kelechi Iheanacho.

Viljami Sinisalo was the man of the match against Rangers and will start in goal again while Benjamin Arthur will partner Liam Scales as Auston Trusty serves the last game of his suspension. Julian Araujo and Tierney will be the full-backs.

Benjamin Nygren, Reo Hatate and Luke McCowan should keep their places in midfield after providing a good balance at Ibrox.

Daizen Maeda moves out to the left wing to replace Sebastian Tounekti, who is better off the bench and let Cvancara play in the number nine role before Hyunjun Yang completes the XI.
