It’s that time of year, where the men are separated from the boys, and champions are crowned from across Europe.
In Scotland and England, both nations crowned their respective champions on the same weekend, with Celtic winning title number 55 by thrashing Dundee United on Saturday.
And then, 24 hours later, Liverpool did the same by putting five goals past Ange Postecoglou’s out-of-sorts Tottenham Hotspur to win title number 20.
For weeks and months now, it has been obvious to supporters of Celtic and Liverpool that they were going to become champions; it was just a case of getting the job done.
The only difference is that those at Anfield got to celebrate the title on home soil, as Celtic will now have to wait until May 10, when they face Hibernian.
One man who was present at Anfield on Sunday afternoon may well be present to witness Celtic’s title lift in a few weeks – and he is a player hugely admired by both clubs.

Why Celtic got a mention as Liverpool were crowned Premier League champions live on Sky Sports
The cameras panned to Sir Kenny Dalglish sitting in the crowd on Merseyside, taking in the sunshine, and watching Liverpool as they confirm their title against Spurs.
Lead commentator for Sky Sports, Peter Drury, then immaculately and beautifully lists out the former striker’s great achievements, not just for Liverpool, but also Scotland’s most successful club.
Before also sharing the story of how ‘King Kenny’ went from Celtic Park to Anfield in 1977, as he told Sky Sports Premier League (27/04/25).
“The greats are all present,” stated Drury.
“Sir Kenny Dalglish, the greatest of them all. Five titles as a player, one further as player-boss, two after that, just as a manager, and this will be his second as the Godfather of Liverpool football club.
“Plus the one with Blackburn, plus four titles with Celtic, and three European Cups with Liverpool.
“48 years this summer since Bob Paisley paid Jock Stein, a British record £440,000 to bring him down from Celtic.”
Kenny Dalglish’s career at Celtic and Liverpool in numbers
There have been many great players of the past, and also many great managers, but not many can claim to be both.
Dalglish has the record, the titles and the trophies to state that he can call himself a great in both departments.
One of the greats to have played the game, and someone, decades after he left the field, is still rightfully talked about today.
