Another game at home and another clean sheet for Kasper Schmeichel at Celtic.
On Sunday, Celtic beat Hibernian in the Scottish Cup and booked their semi-final ticket against a team that has previously caused them problems.
Only last month, David Gray’s side beat the champions at Easter Road in the Premiership, so this was Celtic’s chance to get revenge and prove their worth again.
With seven thousand away fans in attendance at Celtic Park, as expected, it was a lively opening, with a lot of emotion in the game.
Brendan Rodgers’ side started on the front foot and had the majority of the ball, with Hibs happy to sit back and absorb the pressure.
Then came Hibs’ controversial moment early in the first half and it left Schmeichel annoyed.

Celtic’s Kasper Schmeichel unhappy at Hibernian nearly scoring from throw-in
Hibs had a throw-in, which should have been taken near the halfway line, but instead, it was taken further down the line and into Celtic’s defensive third.
From there, the opponents were able to put Kieron Bowie through on goal, from a tight angle, and from point-blank range, the man in between Celtic’s sticks had to deny him.
But Michael Stewart explained how Schmeichel was ‘unhappy’ with the decision to allow that and how a ‘major talking point’ was avoided by the ball not going into the back of the net.
Stewart was in no doubt that, if Hibs had opened the scoring, at that moment, then ‘Celtic would have been justifiably unhappy’, as he told Premier Sports (09/03/25 at 3:20 pm).
“Celtic aren’t happy, the quick throw-in,” said Stewart. “He has a good strike on him, Kieron Bowie, but he just puts it in an area where the goalkeeper has a chance.
“Even though it’s at close-range and he strikes it really well. Schmeichel is a top-class keeper and he reacts very quickly.
“I think they aren’t too happy with where the actual throw-in was taken from. It’s right down in front of us and it happened so quickly.
“He still isn’t happy, Kasper Schmeichel. Here’s why. The ball goes out, he just grabs that one (for the throw-in) and takes it a lot further forward than where it actually went out.
“That would have been a massive talking point. If that ends up in the back of the net, it looks as if it would have counted, and you have to say, that Celtic would have been justifiably unhappy, because the ball clearly went out higher up the park.”
Cameron Carter-Vickers vs Kieron Bowie
Cameron Carter-Vickers is the best defender in Scotland, so every forward he comes up against is going to play better than they have ever done.
Inside the opening minutes against Hibs, Bowie was trying to make himself known to the American after causing him issues at Easter Road last time out.
Stewart highlighted what Bowie did after just the first minute, but in the end, it was Carter-Vickers keeping the Hibs forward at bay and helping Celtic to a clean sheet.
“It’s a mouthwatering tie, you have already seen it with that first moment where Kieron Bowie just bumps right into Carter-Vickers,” said Stewart.
“Scott (Brown) was talking about it. He is an old-fashioned centre-forward. He is one of the only players that I have seen causing Carter-Vickers that sort of physical problem.”
