Celtic, strikers and the transfer window seem to be the only five words that the fans have been hearing this summer.

Since Celtic sold Kyogo Furuhashi, Brendan Rodgers is yet to sign a replacement for the iconic Japanese striker.

Daizen Maeda filled in perfectly for Kyogo as the winger turned striker put in a Player of the Year season to help Celtic win a league and cup double.

However, with Rodgers admitting that the Celtic front line needs reinforcements, pundit Ross McCormack says he’s surprised the Hoops boss didn’t try and sign Bojan Miovski.

Ross McCormack ‘surprised’ Celtic didn’t sign Bojan Miovski from Aberdeen

Bojan Miovski was previously linked to Celtic before he made his record-breaking £6.5m move from Aberdeen to Girona.

Now the Hoops are looking for a striker, McCormack says he was ‘surprised’ Rodgers didn’t sign the striker the Celtic boss admitted he liked back in April 2024.

McCormack told Superscoreboard, “100%, yes. I’m surprised. None of the Old F-rm went for him when he was leaving Aberdeen, to be honest.

“I watched him quite a lot of Aberdeen, and I thought he was excellent. So to answer your question, yes. I think he would fit well into the way Celtic play as well.”

At that time, Miovski would have been playing second-fiddle to Kyogo and Adam Idah so it is unlikely that a Celtic move would have appealed to the North Macedonian international.

What Brendan Rodgers said about strengthening Celtic’s front line

As previously mentioned, Rodgers said he knows his frontline needs reinforcements.

Rodgers said this week, “We still have some work to do. I think the players that we have in the building have been very, very good in this pre-season so far.

“But like I say, we still have work to do in the market. I think it’s very clear where our gaps are – in our front line, where we need support.

“I’m very confident that we’ll be able to do that before the market finishes.”

With Miovski looking out of favour at Girona, would a move to Celtic now appeal to the player and Rodgers as timing would have it?
