Celtic sold Kyogo Furuhashi to Rennes just days before the transfer window closed.
Kyogo’s Celtic exit was confirmed just days after the Hoops had beaten Young Boys in the Champions League and it left Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers with a deadline day headache.
The Bhoys were strongly linked with David Strelec as the Slovan Bratislava striker appeared to become a serious target for Celtic.
However, no move materialised as Celtic’s transfer deadline day fizzled out with a whimper on the striker front.
However, one man who will be pleased about the failure to bring in another striker is Celtic frontman, Adam Idah.
The Irishman will now be the Parkhead club’s main man now that Kyogo has left the building and here, Idah opens up on how he feels about Celtic failing to replace the Japanese talisman.

Adam Idah reacts to Celtic’s Kyogo failure, namechecks ‘flying’ teammate
Idah was asked how he feels about now being Celtic’s main striker after the departure of Kyogo and whilst he’s happy with his new status, the big Irishman namechecked one of his teammates who’s ‘flying’ to a job for the Parkhead club.
Idah told Celtic TV, “Nice for me that potentially I’ve got a lot more game time in my hands, but at the end of the day it’s not my decision whether the club signs a striker or not.
“We’ve got a really strong squad. We’ve got plenty of young strikers in the squad that could, that can do a job.
“You see Johnny back in Ireland when he was on loan, he was flying. We’ve got plenty of options in the squad and I’m sure we’ve strengthened the squad with Jota coming back and Jeff coming in I’m sure we’ve still got a great squad.”
Adam Idah reiterates why he joined Celtic after Kyogo departure
Idah was then asked how he feels about taking on the goalscoring ‘burden’ from Kyogo and the Celtic striker seemed unphased.
Idah added, “Yeah, it’s exciting for me. That’s what I wanted, that’s why I came to Celtic in the first place, even last year, when I came and wanted one or more minutes and I’ve come back again in the summer.
“Now I’ve got a big responsibility to take and I’m ready to take it.”
Despite playing second fiddle for much of the season, Idah has still scored 11 goals in 35 appearances. After his double in Celtic’s defeat to Aston Villa and then notching another against Motherwell, the international striker looks like he is about to kick on now.
