The Premiership title is edging ever closer for Celtic, but fans will have to wait until after the split to get that party started.
In truth, Celtic can only blame themselves that the title hasn’t been won any sooner, especially with the defeats in recent times, going back to Perth, the home loss to Rangers and losing at Hibernian.
It has sparked a few debates here and there, including frustration from the manager, Brendan Rodgers, because the standards have been set exceptionally high inside the club.

Even with the champions-elect being iffy with their performances since the turn of the year, Celtic are still on course for a Treble.
When you look at the overall picture, not just this season, but in the last 15 years, you start to realise how Scotland’s most successful club is in a world of its own compared to their rivals.
But, as per, rather than give Celtic their flowers, the usual nonsense was spouted on the radio by Ally McCoist and Jeff Stelling.

Ally McCoist and Jeff Stelling discuss the gap between Celtic and Rangers
Even with Celtic sleeping in recent weeks, the title is going to be won, and that will be a record-equalling 55th in the club’s history.
Stelling asked his fellow talkSPORT presenter McCoist how the gap, from Rangers’ perspective, to Celtic will be closed, and the usual nonsense of ‘finances’ was brought up.
The former Sky Sports presenter feels it’s going to ‘come down to finances’, without actually realising, from Rangers’ perspective, why they are in their mess this season.
Even the most ardent of Celtic fans will admit that the two recent Glasgow derby defeats were deserved, but when it comes to the bread and butter, playing week in and week out in the Premiership, Rodgers’ side have it nailed down to a tee, and they can deal with that pressure.
Rangers simply can’t. That’s why they have been beaten by the likes of Motherwell, Hibernian, St Mirren, and Aberdeen. How about the finances between Rangers and all of those clubs?
Celtic buy Matt O’Riley for very little, and then sell him for a club-record transfer. That’s how they make their money, and financially make themselves so strong, with the Japan players as other examples.
Meanwhile, Rangers buy Mohamed Diomande for close to £5 million, and he still has fewer goals (four to five) than Celtic’s bench player, Luke McCowan, who was brought in for £1 million.
“Whatever happens, they have to lose fewer games next season,” said Stelling. “That’s seven defeats. It was almost eight (against Aberdeen). Something that hasn’t happened since 2018.”
McCoist responded: “You are absolutely right. The home form has been, well, bordering on diabolical to tell you the truth. They lost four or five (in a row). Queen’s Park. Motherwell. Hibs. St Mirren. All these games. It’s absolutely unheard of.”
Stelling then asked: “How do they close the gap with Celtic? It’s obviously going to come down to finances, isn’t it?”
McCoist agreed: “Correct. And Celtic finances are vastly, vastly superior to Rangers’, at this moment in time.
“Rangers’ recruitment has been diabolical, in fact, the last couple of years. Maybe going back four or five years. How long do you want to go back? It hasn’t been good enough. To have any chance of improving and catching Celtic, the recruitment has to be miles better.”
Brendan Rodgers’ dominance in Celtic colours in numbers
The trophies are stacking up once again for the Irishman; it could and should be five in total, since he returned last season, if all goes well in the coming months.
That’s all after Celtic were up and down during the last campaign, and post-2025, they haven’t been at their best.
Imagine the damage Celtic will cause if Rodgers signs that new deal, and really starts to motor like he did during his first spell, the gap will become even bigger than it is.
