It’s certainly been a week for news about investment in Celtic, especially after the rumours that Snoop Dogg wants to invest in the Parkhead club.
67 Hail Hail discussed over the weekend that American rapper, Snoop Dogg, wants to plough money into Celtic citing the ‘so special’ Hoops fans as one of the motivations for doing so.
This has sparked plenty of discussion over the last couple of days as Jeff Stelling and Dean Saunders doubted Snoop’s credentials as a Celtic fan.
Ally McCoist also reacted to the news yesterday as he jokingly vowed never to listen to the American rapper again after hearing Snoop wants to get involved at Celtic.
But today, McCoist has taken a whole different slant on the news after Rangers published their accounts yesterday as he and Alan Brazil discussed which famous faces would also be interested in investing in Celtic.
Alan Brazil doubts Dermot Desmond would ‘sell a part’ of Celtic
Brazil told talkSPORT, “Talking about buying into Rangers or Celtic, I don’t think Dermot Desmond would sell part of Celtic, would he? I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t.”
McCoist, “I wouldn’t have thought so.”
Brazil: “I think Rod [Stewart] would be first in the line wouldn’t he?”
McCoist: “I think he would probably be interested.”
Brazil: “I think the boys at Simple Minds would be interested, Jim and Charlie.”
McCoist admits Celtic don’t need investment and is gutted with Rangers’ annual report
Rangers posted annual losses of £17.2m yesterday and whilst Celtic are cash-rich, McCoist and Brazil then moved the conversation on to who could put money into the Ibrox club.
McCoist: “With the greatest of respect, Celtic don’t really need anybody to buy into them at this moment in time, do they?”
Brazil: “Rangers do. What about the guys from Hong Kong, I’m being serious now, was there not a consortium in Hong Kong interested or Asia?”
McCoist: “I really don’t know me. I genuinely don’t know. But something has to happen because those figures we mentioned at six o’clock are not good pal. They are not good at all.”
With Celtic’s financial position really strong at the moment and Rangers struggling, it could be some time before the Ibrox club will seriously compete with the Hoops for the Scottish Premiership title.
Celtic face Dundee tonight at Celtic Park and Rangers make the trip to Pittodrie to take on Aberdeen. Should Celtic beat the Taysiders and The Dons take points from the Ibrox club, it’s not going to be a great week for McCoist now, is it?
