What a breathless, dramatic and enthralling opening week of post-split fixtures in the Premiership.
Naturally, one of the biggest talking points was Rangers’ home defeat to Motherwell, with Celtic loanee Stephen Welsh playing a key role from the heart of defence.
A clip of Welsh celebrating wildly in the Ibrox tunnel quickly went viral among the Celtic support, but eagle-eyed fans also spotted a familiar face in the background: Andy Halliday.
Many suggested the former Rangers man was ‘raging’ at the result, a subject that was recently brought up for discussion on the Open Goal podcast by his fellow pundit and Celtic mad Paul Slane.
Slane: “Mate, what about the video of you? They are all f___ing coming for you.”
Halliday: “I know – I was standing next to the cameraman. All the boys are coming. There is a pure commotion in the tunnel.
“So I go round to see what the commotion is. Obviously, that’s when.”
Has Stephen Welsh proven a point to Celtic with his Motherwell form?

Andy Halliday insists he wasn’t ‘raging’ after Motherwell beat Rangers
Halliday is a regular pundit across many footballing platforms, mainly Open Goal and Clyde 1, where he is constantly backing Rangers’ corner.
It’s no surprise that he would prefer Rangers to win the title.
But it was rather funny that he asked whether or not he was ‘raging’ at Rangers losing to Motherwell, given that he is part of Jens Berthel Askou’s side, although he has hardly featured this season.
Halliday explained that there was ‘pure commotion in the tunnel’ straight after the match, and he merely went to check what was going on.
And with perfect timing, when the midfielder did go and look, Welsh appears in shot, celebrating like a true Celtic man.
Slane: “Mate, what about the video of you? They are all f___ing coming for you.”
Halliday: “I know.”
Si Ferry: “What is that about?”
Slane: “See when Welsh celebrated, and he walked by. People were saying, ‘Andy was raging.’ You saw the video, no?”
Ferry: “Were you raging?”
Halliday: “I was standing next to the cameraman. All the boys are coming. There is a pure commotion in the tunnel.
“So I go round to see what the commotion is. Obviously, that’s when.”
Slane: “It’s mad how many people were saying it though, wasn’t it?”
