Celtic have been continually linked to Mathias Kvistgaarden for months.

Kvistgaarden is a name that has been in the Celtic circles ever since Brendan Rodgers returned to the Bhoys in the summer of 2023.

The Denmark U21 international was first linked to Celtic back in August of that year as Rodgers looked to bolster his front line.

However, the speculation died down and Kvistgaarden remained at Brondy after Celtic learned it would take at least £4m to land the Danish Superliga striker.

But as news broke of Celtic resuming their scouting of Kvistgaarden, the Danish striker has now opened up about his Brondby future and it seems the 22-year-old wants a move.

With Celtic looking to reopen their interest in the Danish striker, Kvistgaarden said last month that he was ready to leave Bronby but with a caveat.

Kvistgaarden told the Daily Record, “100%, and as soon as possible. Now it’s starting to be time.

“I’ve said for many years that I’m happy to be in Brondby and that I don’t mind being in Brondby, but now I’m starting to find myself in a situation where I want to go out and try something different.

“My plan is for it to be this summer.”

Mathias Kvistgaarden’s Brondby record as Celtic circle

Kvistgaarden has made 168 appearances in total for Brondby since he started his career with the Danish club after progressing through their youth ranks.

The youngster has scored 79 goals at all levels but in this season alone, Kvistgaarden has netted 14 times in 22 appearances over all competitions and scored a hat trick in November last month.

The winger has also created five assists this season but has 29 in total over his whole Brondby career.

It’s clear the Danish winger has talent and it is little wonder Celtic have resumed their interest.
