Brendan Rodgers has issued a major update on Kasper Schmeichel’s injury return timeline.
The Celtic goalkeeper was hurt on international duty and had to be nursed through Denmark’s Nations League defeat to Portugal.
It was a problem which Rodgers claimed could take six weeks for the player to recover from after his national coach also had his own say on Schmeichel’s issue.
This morning at Lennoxtown, though, Schmeichel shocked fans as he returned to the grass to take part in training with the rest of the goalie’s at Celtic Park.

Schmeichel is ahead of Celtic’s injury return schedule
And now his manager has clarified the 38-year-old’s status and explained how he could make a comeback earlier than first anticipated which will have supporters pleased.
The 52-year-old said: “No, no, he’s clearly not damaged his feet.

“So, he can use his feet and work on his touch and whatnot. I think the time we’ve been given has been five to six weeks by the medical experts, but that could be sooner.
“So, he feels good, he’s got some mobility, he’s got rotation there, but we just obviously have to be careful with the blade and his shoulders.
“He can do other things, so he’s out on the training field and working on the technical side of his game.”
Viljami Sinisalo has deputised for Kasper Schmeichel at Celtic
Schmeichel’s form has been criticised in his home country with abuse from the media going over the line.
The PFA had to step in to demand an apology from one particular journalist and teammate Paulo Bernardo questioned the lack of respect for his pal.
Since that injury blow, though, Viljami Sinisalo has stepped in and he kept a clean sheet as Celtic beat Hearts 3-0 last weekend.
It was his second outing and clean sheet having also played in the Scottish Cup in a 5-0 mauling of Raith Rovers earlier this season.
